Welcome to 2022, Landrum Parent Community!
"Finding new ways to work together" is the guiding principle of our work this fall on the PTO and I am sure you can relate in your own life. Fundraising, selling items, celebrating teachers and meeting parents face-to-face are all important to school PTOs everywhere... and yet due to lingering concerns about group gatherings during Covid, we have been able to do some of these things, but not all. We remain flexible, positive and ever so grateful for our teachers, staff and YOU our parent community!
This fall, we were allowed back into school after a complete hiatus in 2020-2021. Our incredible staff and administration have faced supply shortages, staffing shortages, quarantines and numerous other challenges as they continue to provide unrelenting guidance and knowledge to our kids, day in and day out with unfailing positivity! It was our #1 priority to show them our appreciation. This meant that we could bring back our Staff Partner and recognition program called Secret Pal, we held monthly lunches and treats for our staff and, with your financial support, we threw them one beautiful holiday luncheon with holiday gifts for each staff member in December.
We invited our entire parent community to meet our new principal, Guy Harris, and hear about his first quarter in the Lion's Den at our Breakfast with the Principal and the PTO. We collected almost $15,000 for a new computer lab as you purchased lawn signs to decorate and show your Lion pride in the front yard! We asked for support of our Share your Blessings program to provide Thanksgiving Dinners and Holiday Wish List gifts for families in need and, once again, you showed overwhelming support for these families.
Thank you for your patience as we follow district guidelines on the re-opening of schools. We can't wait to welcome new families, attend events in the gym when its open to 100% attendance, and meet everyone in person.
We would like to extend an extra special thank you to our Community Partners, Fishman Pediatric Dentistry, Beaches Orthodontics and The Volen Group for supporting Landrum Middle School this year!
Wishing you a happy and healthy start to 2022,
Kristin M. Glunt
President, Landrum Middle School PTO
